I think you might agree that the color of this bird alone is a channel changer. I saw the word “fairy wren” in a novel I was reading today, and I thought, REALLY ? Is that a real bird?
Well, there was nothing for it but for me to Google it and see that it is indeed a real bird. It was a wonder to behold, and I had a moment of appreciation for the technology that so quickly supplied the image to me. I can assure you it is very rare for me to appreciate technology. Mostly, I want to fire all my devices. I want to call them into my office and say you are all fired because on balance you make my life full of anxiety and sadness. Oh, they might make a good argument for the worth of their existence, and in many respects they would be right, but technology does make me anxious and sad a lot of the time. But look at this bird.
In the same novel, I came across the word “bellbird.” Naturally, I had to Google that one too, and not only did I have to look at it, I had to hear its song, which cheered me up quite a bit. These days, getting cheered up counts for quite a lot. And it’s funny how the smallest things can provide for such a big lift. By way of example, here is a story about birds and bread crumbs.
