Last night, at a reading, I gave away a copy of one of the “Happy” books. These are collections of the best-received Facebook postings I’ve done. Some of the people at the reading wanted to know how to get these books, and here’s how: Go to Amazon and type in, Make Someone Happy, Still Happy, or Happy to Be Here. The books cost $12.00 each. Each book has postings on a great variety of subjects: my thoughts on what’s in the news, things I see and conversations I have on walks, the blessings of nature, “dialogue with dogs (and cats),” AND recipes: Lemon Kerfluffle, Rustic Tortillini Soup, Apple Walnut Salad with Blue Cheese Vinaigrette, to name but a few. These books really DO cheer you up, and I’m happy to say a lot of people have told me they keep them by their bedsides for a quick lift. They make nice gifts—birthday or holiday; or consider bringing one as a hostess gift next time you’re invited to dinner. (My brilliant friend Phyllis crafted this ad. Thank you, Phyllis!)

I think I bought all of them beginning of Covid lockdown. I LOVE them so much!!! You've been my favorite author for many more years than I knew you were on Facebook - when I discovered that I felt like I'd been given a wonderful gift! I have a personal question I've been anxious to ask but didn't think it appropriate - the books gave us so many personal details of your life that I felt (I KNOW others did also!) that we knew you and were made a part of your life.
I remember one post from the book especially as it resonated with me so much - you were walking with a certain someone and you were annoyed - there was an out loud conversation and then the thoughts you were having in your head that you wrote about - I LOVED that post so much!! I doubt there is a woman who is a fan who couldn't identify with that particular instance because, as the title of the book said, men ARE from Mars and we, well, we are from somewhere else entirely!
As a dog lover, there are so many magical posts about your dogs that I especially loved.
Anyone who is a fan of yours should get them.
Everything you said is true. These are truly, truly happy books,. I have given them as gifts and been thanked over and over again for them. I’m one of the ones that keep them by my bedside, along with Mary Oliver. Your posts remind us, restore us, smile, laugh, and often make me hungry.
I hope your tour is going swell (can I say that?) and that your pinched nerve is not causing as much pain.
It’s almost lunch time, which means it’s almost nap time, which means it’s almost, Happy Books Time.
Thank you.
