LOL!!! My dog, Tucker, is a great welcomer, too. He is also great at dialogue. We talk with him in ordinary conversational American English. Sometimes, though, I get really irritated with what my husband says to him. Yesterday, while I was struggling to clip Tucker's hair, he kept trying to step away and ended up slipping. My husband said, "Here, buddy... Let me put my arm around you. You're such a good boy. I'll support you." I don't remember him ever talking to our kids like that... and not to me in such a way, either.
For almost 17 years, we always were greeted by Tucker as though we had been gone for days - whether we were away for hours or minutes! Only the last few months, when he was too frail to come greet us, did we only get a wagging tail.
I live in community where only service dogs are allowed and only up to a certain weight. As soon as my wanderlust days are over, I will get a service dog because I will certainly need one.
I tried to get a heart in there but only got a liked in… but now I can put my own ❤️ in.
I love Austin and Gabby and all your conversations with them. And, dear Homer. What wonderful conversations you had with him. This is another Saved so I can read it again and I think I’ll read it to Toby. I love the way he greets me when I come home. Aren’t we lucky to have such wonderful dogs and to be so loved by them.
