Thank you for explaining this bewildering sport. Your explanation makes perfect sense. I will take it to heart and avoid football games in the future.

Hating violence of any kind, I must confess I liked having a team to route for when I lived in Mass. - my son especially loved the sport. We used to hold a Super Bowl party every year and we all loved it - especially the food!!

Since I've lived in Florida, I've only followed Brady which makes me a traitor to those who are ardent fans of the Patriots! And, I'm actually glad he retired because I now can be against the sport due to the brain injuries. I should have been all along but came late to the reality of the problem.

Sorry for the serious nature of the post - I did get some chuckles out of this piece but I have been thinking a lot about violence lately - it's hard not to with what's going on all the time in our country

You made the game funnier than the ones I used to watch to keep my honey company.

I didn’t like it until I was over fifty. But being a Pilates Instructor I fell in love with the slow motion replays. I love their tight pants and muscles. To me they’re ballet dancers 👯‍♀️

Oh boy, am I with you. I have never understood the love of football or wanting to watch people get hurt. Sometimes I feel like I’m not a true American with my lack of interest in most sports. I love all the pregame television commercials for Super Bowl, wings and chips and dips and food, food and more food. I never buy any of it Actually, the dog commercials are the only reason to tune in and that on occasion I’ve done.

You nailed it with this and I salute you and may I add, the amount of money they get paid and the amount of money people have to pay (and do???) to go to a game, is astounding to me and simply not right.

Love this! I went to football games in high school to watch various guys I had a crush on, too. I never found any money, but I was always happy at half time not to be in the band trying to play an instrument and make a design, too. Sports in general do not make sense to me.

I thought this was funny. I’m not a huge sports fan because I can’t control anything about it. I see so many people on social media who have sports teams in their bios. That’s not part of my identity. I’m looking forward to reading your new book, Elizabeth.

As someone who has been a fan of college football for 60 years, this is the most ill-informed, stupidest and most moronic article I’ve ever read about the sport. If you know NOTHING about a sport, that shouldn’t be a reason to write an article about it, showing your pathetic lack of knowledge.

I found it hilarious-from the perspective that the writer knew nothing about football 👍🏻👍🏻
