I have a pencil written recipe card from 7th grade "Home Ec" for Date Pinwheel Cookies. We learned how to make things from scratch. I am going to go through all my recipes and throw out anything calling for canned soup, packaged cake mix, and COOL WHIP. Your books are encouraging me to bake with love and real ingredients.
If only I had some fresh Medjool dates from Costco I would make my Grandma Butler’s Date Bars. I have the recipe that I wrote on a card at least 50 years ago and it’s snowing so there is no better time to bake. Alas!

I love date bars and the mix of my youth is nowhere to be found. My first effort at recreation was a failure. I may try yours next! Thank you.
